Now, there is a representative customer who has actually implemented this technology in their service **MapleStory Universe (MSU)**.\
So how exactly is MSU leveraging ARGOS’ capabilities? Let’s take a closer look.## Why MapleStory Universe introduced ARGOS identity authenticationARGOS eKYC in MSUMapleStory Universe is a blockchain-based Web3 gaming platform that combines NFTs, game tokens, and a decentralized reward system an environment where gamers worldwide communicate and trade assets.\
However, as the user base grows and digital transactions diversify, the importance of enhanced security and compliance with global regulations increases significantly.To address these challenges, MapleStory Universe adopted ARGOS’ **KYC (Know Your Customer)** solution. Through this, MSU effectively blocks illegal activities and platform risks. This enhanced authentication process is required for users suspected of hacking attempts or macro usage, and accounts identified with abnormal activity must complete it before returning to normal service.When a KYC re-verification request appears, users must complete the process through the official MapleStory Universe website.\
After connecting their wallet, users are automatically directed to the KYC re-verification page. From there, they can begin the process by clicking the “Re-Verification” button at the bottom of the page.FaceAuth - re-verificationOnce re-verification begins, users must complete **FaceAuth** within 14 days of clicking the button.\
Re-verification cannot proceed if any of the following conditions apply:- More than 14 days have passed since clicking the “Re-Verification” button
- FaceAuth authentication has failed **three times in a row**This process serves as a core security mechanism, proactively blocking abnormal behaviors such as hacking or macro use and ensuring that only legitimate users can safely access the service.\
With the support of ARGOS FaceAuth, MapleStory Universe further strengthens service reliability and operational stability by preventing identity forgery, proxy authentication, and automated macro activities in real time.## MapleStory Universe strengthens its global security strategy by blocking 640,000 accountsSince the launch of its service, MapleStory Universe (MSU) has actively responded to bot farms and macro users, permanently blocking more than **640,000 fraudulent accounts** in total. Most of the accounts removed between May 15 and October 30 were users involved in automated macro activity or bot networks. These large-scale enforcement actions significantly reduced malicious automated behavior, directly contributing to gameplay commercialization and improved operational efficiency.To enhance internal detection and response capabilities, MSU upgraded its operational tools across several areas, including strengthening monitoring systems, expanding real-time patrols, and introducing credit analysis technology to identify high-risk behavioral patterns. As a result, the number of suspicious accounts, which had surged during the initial launch period, **fell by approximately 82%**, marking a meaningful turning point in restoring a fair and transparent gaming environment.Additionally, as cases emerged where fraudulent users purchased pre-verified accounts or bypassed KYC using other people’s identity information, MSU collaborated with ARGOS to build a [**KYC re-authentication system**](https://medium.com/maplestory-universe/developer-note-our-ongoing-commitment-to-a-safer-and-fairer-maplestory-n-ea857d3e34ac)to close the loopholes in its existing authentication framework. After requesting re-verification from accounts classified as high-risk by the internal risk assessment system or suspected of fraudulent KYC completion, only **155 out of 28,000 suspicious accounts** succeeded in re-authentication resulting in a very low success rate of **just 0.55%**.This indicates that the majority of fraudulent users either avoided or failed the re-verification process, serving as a key indicator that MSU’s re-authentication system is **highly effective in identifying and blocking abnormal KYC activity**.## ARGOS Face Auth is trust-based identity authentication without a password.**So what is Face Auth, the technology that enables seamless KYC re-authentication?**ARGOS Face Auth is an add-on service that compares a user’s latest selfie with the selfie data collected during the existing eKYC (electronic identity verification) process, allowing the system to check in real time whether the person is the same individual.\
This feature strengthens both **security** and **convenience**, enabling users to re-verify their identity with **just one selfie no password or extra authentication codes needed!**Face Auth goes beyond a simple identity verification function.\
